The game has been popular in Bangladesh for a long time, and it is now gaining fresh popularity through online platforms where you can play with a live dealer. zeed buzz offers several Teen Patti variants where you can sit at a table against other players in real time. The Rules of a Round

Each round of Teen Patti begins with the boot or ante — every player places a fixed amount into the pot before the round starts. The dealer then distributes three face-down cards to each player.

After receiving cards, each player has two options: Chaal (continue playing) or Pack (fold your hand). Those who choose Chaal keep adding a set amount to the pot.

A special option is playing "Andha" or blind — a player can choose to play without looking at their cards. This keeps the bet lower but carries risk. Players who look at their cards are called "Seen" and must place double the bet.

At the end of a round, the last remaining player wins the pot, or two players call a "Show" and reveal their cards — the one with the higher hand takes the pot.

Steps in a Round

  • Everyone places the boot (ante)
  • Dealer distributes three cards
  • Players decide Chaal or Pack in turns
  • Choose blind or seen
  • Show between the final two players
  • Higher hand takes the pot

Hand Rankings and Scoring

The strength of a hand in Teen Patti is determined by the combination of cards. From highest to lowest — see all hand types in the table below.

1 Trio / Three of a Kind

Three cards of the same value. Three Aces is the highest, three 2s the lowest.

2 Pure Run / Straight Flush

Three consecutive cards of the same suit — for example ♠A-♠2-♠3.

3 Run / Straight

Three consecutive cards of different suits. A-2-3 is the highest run.

4 Color / Flush

Any three cards of the same suit, but not in sequence.

5 Pair / Two of a Kind

Two cards of the same value. A pair of A-A is the strongest.

6 High Card

No matching combination — the winner is decided by comparing the highest card.

On a tie, suit order is used for comparison: Spade > Heart > Diamond > Club. A trio of Aces is the best hand possible, but the odds of getting it are very low.

Game Format

Against the dealer, or against other players?

Traditionally, Teen Patti is played in a player-versus-player format — everyone competes for the same pot and the player with the strongest hand at the end wins. In this format, bluffing, reading opponents, and composure are all equally important.

Online, there is also a popular player-versus-dealer format. Here you only need to beat the dealer's hand — there is no direct competition with the rest of the table. This format is comparatively less stressful and a good starting point for new players.

Both formats are available in the live casino section at zeed buzz. Go to zeed buzz Casino to see the list of live Teen Patti tables and join the format you prefer.

Useful Tips for Beginners

  • Start with a small boot
Play at lower limits at first. Understand the pace of each round before increasing your stakes.
  • Use the blind play option
Playing without looking at your cards can sometimes unsettle opponents. However, staying blind for too long is risky.
  • Watch the pot size
The bigger the pot, the more tempting it gets. It is better not to chase a large pot with a mediocre hand.
  • Read your opponents
Online, watch for betting patterns — raising very quickly or very slowly often signals the strength of a hand.
  • Set a session budget
Decide how much you are willing to spend before you start. Once you reach that limit, end the session.
  • Do not chase losses
Placing bigger bets to recover losses often leads to even bigger losses. Take a break instead.
  • Practice for free
Many platforms have a demo mode. Use it to practise hand rankings and betting before playing with real money.
  • Keep track of time
Concentration drops in long sessions. Taking short breaks every hour or so helps you make better decisions.

Popular Variants

While the core rules are the same, Teen Patti has several popular variants that add variety to the game and call for different strategies.

Muflis (Lowest Hand)

In this variant, the weakest hand is the strongest. The strategy is to hold on to the lowest-value cards — you have to think in completely the opposite way.

High-Risk

Akki Mukki (One Chance)

All players can only look at their cards once. This puts even greater emphasis on bluffing and reading opponents.

Mid-Level

Joker / Wild Card

The dealer declares one or two cards as wild, which can be used as any card. The chances of getting a trio are higher.

Table Etiquette and Session Management

Teen Patti is not just a card game — it is a social experience between people. Keeping to proper etiquette online raises the standard of play and improves the experience for everyone.

The most important thing is session management. Decide in advance how long you will play and how much money you will bring to the table. Staying on out of greed after a win often reverses your advantage. You will find more advice in zeed buzz's guide on responsible gaming.

Make decisions on time

Taking too long disrupts other players' experience. There is a timer online — let others know your Chaal or Pack decision within the time allowed.

Use respectful language

Avoid provoking opponents or making offensive comments in the live chat. Good conduct creates a better atmosphere for everyone.

Stay within your budget

Keep a separate budget for each session. Do not try to recover losses from one session in the next.

Acknowledge a good hand

When an opponent holds a strong hand or plays well, acknowledging it is the right way to conduct yourself at the table.

Keep your emotions in check

Whether you win big or lose big, stay calm. Decisions made in an agitated state are usually the wrong ones.

Take breaks

A 5-10 minute break every hour or hour and a half brings back focus and helps you make better decisions.

Common Questions About Teen Patti

Playing blind lets you stay in the round with a lower bet. Your opponents don't know what you're holding, which can create pressure. However, staying blind for too long may cost you more in pot contributions. Generally, staying blind for more than 2-3 rounds is not advisable.

Muflis is a reverse-ranking variant. Here, the weakest hand in standard Teen Patti — the high card — is the best. That means low-value mixed cards, without a matching suit or sequence, win. A trio of 2-2-2 is the weakest here, while a mixed 2-3-5 is strong.

When both hands are in the same category, card values are compared first. For example, if both players have a pair, the higher pair wins. If the pairs are equal, the third card is compared. If all values are equal, suit order is used: Spade > Heart > Diamond > Club.

A show can only be called when just two players remain at the table. A show means both players reveal their cards and the higher hand takes the pot. If you are a seen player calling a show, you must pay double the current bet. If your opponent is blind, you must pay equal to their current bet.

Yes, zeed buzz has Teen Patti tables with real dealers in the live casino section. The dealer distributes cards via video stream and you make decisions in real time. JILI's software-based versions are also available alongside these.
